People are sharing the weirdest things their parents banned from them as kids, and it's gas

UNLESS YOUR PARENTS were really chill, you probably came up against a few roadblocks when it came to which films and TV shows you could watch.

The internet has been reminded of those days thanks to writer Nick Douglas, who tweeted that his parents were not so keen on one Sabrina the Teenage Witch:

Interesting, but OK.

Then, others started chipping in with the things they were forbidden from watching, reading or listening to, and an extensive dossier of banned items began to form.

Ah yeah, the swearing was off the charts.

Fair.

This also makes sense. There were very few parents in the 90s/early 2000s who were not perturbed by The Simpsons, and Bart in particular.

Oh to have the dedication and drive of a parent afraid of their kids being corrupted by hip hop and Indiana Jones. Maybe someday we’ll understand.

We at the DailyEdge.ie asked our colleagues what forbidden delights they wished to sample as kids, and the answers were revealing:

Cartoon Network, just in general.
Home and Away. Then one day I watched it at a friend’s house and one of the characters got trapped under a car and was bleeding profusely, and I felt SO bad for watching.
I was never allowed to play Grand Theft Auto, even the very first one.
Desperate Housewives and Big Brother :(
South Park, justly. My brother used to let me watch it with him though.
